Immediately after Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Srinagar-Jammu rail link to the nation on Friday, 6 June 2025, a large number of passengers have booked their seats on the two #VandeBharat trains operating between Katra and Srinagar. Many of the passengers aspiring to visit Kashmir are the pilgrims returning from the Mata Vaishno Devi cave shrine in Katra. The enthusiasm has translated into a surge in bookings. According to the data available on the IRCTC mobile app, train 26401 is sold out in both CC (chair car) and EC (executive class) categories until 12 June. Likewise, train 26403 has no seats available until 10 June. On Saturday, both services departed Katra the 8.10 am and 2.55 pm departures on time and reached Srinagar without delay, marking a smooth launch of operations. Saturday and Sunday witnessed a huge rush of the passengers which is significant in the backdrop of the tourist traffic having nosedived after the Pahalgam terror attack and the resultant India-Pakistan military skirmishes.
